Well, it had to happen…. getting side tracked and putting some of my old vinyl onto the turntable and seeing how much of the stuff I thought was great at the time stands the test of time. I remember as a kid trying to cram as many tracks of mine and Deans onto a C90 Cassette.

In Fact, as and when we could, we would be stuck in the corner of the lounge where the Akai separates would be, and creating our own compilation tapes. Obviously, being a lot older than me, his music collection was better but ultimatly it inspired mine (until a certain indie Goth sidelined me and I found myself listening to the dark side…).
Although often scoffed at, one album that I practically wore out back then was Imaginations In The Heat of the night, their 2nd album, following on form their debut breakthrough album BODY TALK
Listening to the album now it still stands up, and certainly defines that era of the eighties.

The stand out tracks are obviously Music and Lights, Just an Illusion and in the heat of the night. I think Changes was a weak single release, and the next album (Scandalous) was probably the last decent and notable release from them. I think that after that there were some label and management issues and then the line up changed.Anyway, they are now well and truly in the Where are they now section of British soul, and will more than likely be paraded out in front of Simon Amstell on Buzz cocks so that some nom du jour tries to figure out which one is which in the line up….
Speaking of Du Jour, reminds me of Josie and the Pussy Cats and the very very wrong song, Back Door Lover that starts this “kids” film….. Its classic Seth Green and the gang…. but very very very wrong! Its also one of the very few films where Alan Cumming doesn’t wind me up.

Funny as hell tho!
Oh, and also has the wonderful Parker Posey who, well… er….. you know, kinda pushes all the right intellectual buttons
