Whats the effing point! Install went great until I realised that I had wiped last nights super clean windows install…. Why dont these linux chaps make it just a little bit simpler for those wishing to install it for the first time…. like an idiots guide. Now I have had to re-format all the drive again and start all over!

Right, I shouldnt really be down in the office today as I need some time away from the machines and maybe get some diving done…… but here I am, installing bloody Fedora Core 5 again, just so that I can get used to working within a Linux platform….

Those nice chaps (well, Sandip Patel) have sent me a nice little bundle of DT DVD’s to review….. including the syflex and renderman titles….

However, where I had set aside this weekend for doing the reviews, I now have to waste an entire Saturday trying to undo a rather stupid mistake on my part. I attempted to instal linux on a partion on my main 3D machine. Now windows wont boot or even repair its own install…. so I have to get a new HDD, do a new instal of windows and hope that the file structure on the original HDD is still in tact so I can get al my Maya scripts and settings and most importnatly: current projects such as the car back into the new instal. Manual ghosting….. ‘Tis a pain in the ass but it is, afterall, my fault.

I have not dived in four weeks and I really need to.

Its a long shot, but if either Delphine Parodi or Isabelle Chiesa decide to google themselves, they may come across this…. so then they will know to contact me RE: The DBC reunion….

Well, my day off has arrived… My last day of was over three weeks ago… I have worked flat out since then. Yet, for some reason, my wife decides its ok for her to go to work today… so its not really a day off at all.

At last, a day off!

Wife is at work tomorrow, kids are with me, and I am diving in the evening…. I also have a great LOST PENCIL tutorial to watch that will go some way to helping me with a very very tricky rigging dilema I have at Hogwarts…. Lets just hope it is money well spent.

I seem to have spent most of this week just sending out e mails to people apologizing for being so busy and not being in touch. I hope they understand that leaving the house at 4:50, getting home at 9 or 10 in the evening doesnt give me the same amount of web time as I am used to.

Work is cool, but lunch times in Soho are devestatingly distracting…. plenty of things to be looking at…..

4 weeks till the big DBC reunion…. and having found Nikki Wills (she sounds so cool on the phone!), anything can happen in the next couple of weeks….. Claire Cunningham may even turn up.

Cant wait to see all these people. The sad thing is though that at the time, many of the girls were just (or so I thought) un-approachable… even after three years of being together… some of them I have said more to in the past month than I ever did at college… Im begining to regret having been so insular in many aspects of my life (no doubt due to some quirk in my upbringing), and I think this year has seem me start to address many of those quirks head on…

Well, the first week at Hogwarts went exceedingly well… deadlines met etc etc etc. Totally enjoying the place and hope this week sees me getting to grips with LINNUX.

But thereis no rest for the wicked as this weekend sees me working back at nickelodeon on the early worms… and next weekend as well. Still…. need the money. I am in severe need of a lie in, as my morning routine of going to the gym for a workout AND a swim remains the same so I am still getting that early train that gets me into the West End for 7am, before getting to work at 9:15.

So, how am I coping with all this work and no diving…..?

Naturally, I cant say anything about what I am doing… but I think I am allowed to say that whatever it is I am doing, I am loving it!!!! Its very strange going into such a big place as the new guy, when everyone around you appears to be so bloody talented…. but I have quite a nice first to be doing whilst their and I am gratefull for that. Even more so, I am surrounded by people that are just so good at what they do… modellers, animators…… this is what I have been striving for for a couple of years…. lets just hope it has some longevity….. I must be enjoying it because the day goes by quick (leave the house at 05:00, back at 21:.00) and I have not even thought about diving….

Still, as with all new jobs in big places, the hardest part is trying to remember names….. even my own!
